Wilson Chan is of Cantonese and Hokkien descent, a son of migrant parents, and was raised in the promised land of Ōtara, South Auckland. He is the husband of Esther and the father of Malachi and Billie.

Wilson trained through Praxis and has worked as a youth worker across a range of South Auckland communities. His journey of following Jesus has led him to study te reo Māori at Te Wānanga Ihorangi and theology at Theology at St John’s College while serving as an Assistant Priest at Hēmi Tapu, a Māori Anglican church in Māngere Bridge under the shepherding of Bishop Kito.
